Here, the motorcycle appears not only as a vehicle, but as a symbol of a way of existing and moving through the city. In territories marked by narrow streets and difficult access, the motorcycle taxi becomes an extension of the social landscape, a practical, fast, and deeply rooted form of transportation in the daily life of those who live there.

The scene portrays a woman on her way to a baile funk, suspended in that moment between transit and anticipation. She has not yet arrived at the party, but she already carries within her all the energy of the night waiting for her. Her body reveals that care: her high heels remain intact, her hair is preserved by avoiding a helmet, and her hand holds the top of her bikini in place so that nothing shifts as the motorcycle cuts through the curves of the hill at speed. In this gesture, there is something both ordinary and monumental at once: a refusal to give up her image, even in the face of the city’s rough tempo.

More than representing a journey, the work speaks of preparation, desire, and presence. She is not merely going to the baile, she is projecting herself toward it, preserving her beauty, her posture, and her intention until the moment of arrival. There is glamour in this passage, but it is a glamour born from the favela, shaped by urgency, improvisation, and personal assertion. The character thus emerges as someone who transforms the route into performance and movement into part of the spectacle.

This work emerges from a pop imaginary that lives in the memory of those who truly consume images obsessively, not only as entertainment, but as visual language, gesture, and cultural code. Within the favelas, the city produces its own languages of music, dance, style, and social life that not only define local experience, but also cross borders and reshape popular culture on a broader scale. Funk carioca, born in these territories, is perhaps one of the most emblematic examples of this movement: an expression created at the margins that, over time, became a central force in Brazilian music and achieved global reach.

Imagined in Morro do Vidigal, the scene draws from the favela’s cultural power as a place of invention. The setting evokes a party built through improvisation, but also through visual rigor, presence, and desire; a space where precarity and sophistication are no longer opposites. The central figure, dressed in orange and placed in a position of prominence, embodies that assertion: she occupies the space with authority, style, and performance.
